Amazon EC2 Instances
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is a virtual machine or compute capacity provided on Amazon Web Services cloud. EC2 instances are very simple to use, scalable and are elastic in nature. These are available in various tiers like free tier (for learners/students), on-demand, reserved and spot instances. Instances on free tier are available for learners up to 750 hours whilst the other instances are chargeable.
Amazon EC2 Instance Type
EC2 instances can be classified into 4 categories based on the pricing models.

Amazon EC2 Placement Groups
EC2 instances can be placed in clusters under 3 major strategies for high availability and better performance.

Amazon EC2 Volumes
There are two main categories of Instance volumes at a high level.

Amazon AMIs
Amazon machine images are ready made templates that can be used to quickly launch an EC2 with a specific configuration.
